a live arts documentary

directed by Jessica Ernst
video production by
Ball Square Films

In Sleeping Weazel’s first-ever short film, performing artists Mar Parrilla, Marshall Hughes, Ellice Patterson, and Keith Mascoll respond to four different outdoor locations in greater Boston. Through solo performances of music, dance, and text combined with candid conversations, they provide a glimpse into the ways individuals embody joy and empowerment in defiance of racist, colonialist history that underpins systemic racism and inequity in the U.S. today.

TOASTING MAN
Seven Rooms: The Masque of the Red Death

by Hortense Gerardo
directed by Jessica Ernst

Part of a radically-collaborative virtual theatre experience produced by Flat Earth Theatre, Toasting Man depicts a single “room” in a fantastical and eerie adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death. A trio of guests at Prospero’s end-of-the-world party sit around a campfire attempting to recreate an annual ritual after a long period of isolation, where dark secrets from the past are revealed and, finally, laid to rest.
